960BHP Daily Monster Mac

The right number of McLarens? MORE! Always more. And I heard that if you sell one, you must buy one asap. If you fail to do that, it’s bad luck.

Monster McLaren 720S theSLRgirl

What is it?

It’s a 720S, tuned to perfection. It produces 960BHP, which makes it the most powerful car in the garage! Almost 1000BHP in my new daily! Woohoo!

McLaren has the tendency to create extraordinary things since day one and the 720S is no exception. The 720S is the best modern supercar money can buy. It doesn’t need an introduction, but here’s one anyways.

Hypercar performance for supercar money. There isn’t a rival that comes close to what a 720S offers. Not a single Ferrari has that nonchalant, easy-going personality mixed with ferocious, raw power. I’ve driven the direct competitors, they’re great cars, fantastic cars, don’t get me wrong. But there is something about a McLaren that elevates the supercar ownership to the next level.

Maybe it’s because the car is so easy to live with - unpretentious, chill and trusty. But take it to the track and you’ll witness a Porsche killer. That Formula 1 pedigree shines bright on the track, the know-how becomes evident the second the lights go green. It turns into a monster. Everyone feels the presence of a McLaren on the track.

Maybe it’s because the 720S knows exactly what it is. There is no space left for pretences. It is pure and honest. I love such cars, these are the best cars!  Maybe it's because it can devour highways with the same ease it can perform as a daily. Spacious on the inside, the 720S has the best supercar interior I have ever seen. Just like on the outside, everything makes sense on the inside as well. Simple, luxurious and sporty, it points your attention exactly where it needs to be - on the road. That's what I mean by the 720S knows what it is. It's a high-performance supercar that wants you to immerse yourself fully into the driving. No unnecessary distractions. With the 720S, the driving is the event. The car is the tool. This is where brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini fail a bit. With them, the car is the bigger event than the driving itself.

Looks amazing, still. Unlike other modern supercars, it doesn’t look dated one bit. McLaren mastered the aesthetics here and I just can’t imagine how are they’re planning on toping this design. The headlights alone are a masterpiece, which inspired the Lamborghini’s Revuelto.

Looks aside, we’re talking about a RWD, mid-engined, twin-turbo, V8 supercar that comes with 710HP from the factory (officially, unofficially it comes with 750HP). It's also super light - only 1460kg! This commands certain amount of respect when it comes to piloting it. The second you disrespect it, it’ll bite you back. Straight in your ass! Trust me, this isn’t a car to mess around with. Hence why so many make the news.

I recently watched Doug’s review of the 720S, which was posted 7 years ago. Time flies! I like Doug, but I always skip the Doug score, simply because it's too biased for my liking, but even he agrees that this car is something special. A 10/10 car. I hope all of you have a chance to experience a 720S in your lifetime. It will blow your mind. In comparison, another car that I utterly enjoyed driving and left a lasting admiration in me - the F8 Tributo - I rated 8/10. I loved the car, I still think about it from time to time. A 10/10 in the Ferrari lineup for sure, but falls behind the McLarens when it comes to drama, livability and performance. I gave the Huracán 6/10. So, the 720S is on a whole another level. It's bonkers.

The review of my 720S is yet to happen, because I think it's only fair to do that after a few weeks of solid driving. But I would like to share a few interesting bits about it and what made me fall in love with this exact car.

First things first, the elephant in the room - it came with the Monster stickers on. I'm yet to drink the energy drink, I have no idea what it tastes like. I just thought it looked cool and fun. Not everything has to be serious, right? We need some fun in our lives. I'm keeping them, alright!

It was involved in a crash on Nordschleife and it was fully rebuilt by McLaren.

Mantis Green isn't the original paint. Its previous (and first) owner said it's the only car that keeps up with the Koenigseggs on the German Autobahns.

It's an interesting spec. The previous owner is very much into weight saving and he specced the car without a lot of things. Like a lot. Another car with a redneck spec! I don't have a rear camera and parktronic sensors, for example. I only have the mirrors to guide me. It's pretty fun to be honest. I can retrofit it, but I low-key want to keep it as is. Let's see! It doesn't have a central console! It also doesn't have a lift, which means scrapes are inevitable. I'm already used to scraping cars, so I don't care. I ordered skid plates and I taped the lip with heavy-duty tape, which is proven to be sufficient when it comes to daily scrapes. Yes, you have to check it and re-tape, if necessary, but it does the job! It also doesn't have ambient lighting and fancy audio system. These are the things I have discovered that are missing so far, but you know what, I love it! Makes it really fun and raw. It spits flames. This is a solid one. The exhaust is custom and sounds brilliant! More on that soon! I like the Mantis Green, too. When I drove it for the first time, there was a snowstorm and I was going with a generous speed on the highway and the cars just moved away from my lane. Like, I was 400m behind them and they just swerved into the right lane. A few almost crashed into the car next to them. I guess the green looks very aggressive in the rearview mirror. Meanwhile I was struggling with my wipers lmao. I could barely see what's going on in front of me. I was like "Thank you, kind sir, but I have my personal struggles, I'll be approaching you soon with a reasonable speed considering I can't see shit." lmao No offence to McLaren, but these wiper moves are vulgar. You would ask "Why are you driving a supercar in the snow?". It has allseasons on, so that I can integrate it into the daily lifestyle sooner. I don't want to wait until the weather is better. Is it a daily or what?! I'll be driving it next week a lot. I want to get on top of it, so that I don't feel intimidated by the power too much. Maybe you'll spot me!
